Since joining Sun Life in 2011, Sandra has held various leadership roles spanning the company’s protection, wealth, and health businesses. Her past roles include Head of Litigation, Chief Counsel for Sun Life’s Group Benefits and Digital Health businesses, and a secondment to the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. Prior to joining Sun Life, Sandra practiced as a commercial litigator at Torys LLP in Toronto.
Sandra is a member of Women’s General Counsel Canada and a frequent speaker at legal industry events. She is also a past recipient of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 Awards, a nominee for Canadian Lawyer’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers (2023), and an alumnus of The Judy Project, University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, Initiative for Women in Business. Sandra currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Pro Bono Ontario, and previously served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Humewood House (now the Abiona Centre for Infant & Early Mental Health) – a not for profit, accredited children’s mental health agency in Toronto serving pregnant and parenting youth and their families.
