Our new infographic honours this year’s #EmbraceEquity theme. It also outlines steps you can take to better support women’s health in your plan.
The pandemic has sharpened the focus on the unique health needs of women. Mental disorder claims made up an increasing share of women’s long-term disability claim volumes throughout the pandemic compared to men. And while mental health remains a key concern, women face other health challenges that require greater awareness and support.
Women make up 48% of the Canadian workforce, and many have group benefits coverage.1 To ensure women find the benefits support they need, we are educating employers through a variety of channels. One, specifically, is our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) Playbook, which reflects results of our national survey of employed Canadians with group benefits. In that survey, 33% of women said their group benefits plan didn’t provide enough coverage to meet their needs. This compares to just 17% of men.2
Sun Life offers solutions and support that can help you support women’s health within your group benefits plan.
